Hi my name is Skye, I am the new editor for Museums411 Kids Corner, today I am taking you to Secret Caverns,in Cobleskill NY.

I visited Secret Caverns with my Dad, he takes me to a lot of great museums and places like Secert caverns, So I can let all you kids know if it is a kids's kind of place. First I would like to thank everyone at Secret Caverns, especially Todd for being so nice, funny, and informative, he was really cool he made our visit something we will always remember.

We had a lot of fun walking through the cave and taking photos I got some great photos that I took and would like to share with everyone, but the waterfall is a hard photo to take because there was so much water spraying all over. So to see the waterfalls you will have to come and visit Secret Caverns yourselves a place that kids of all ages will enjoy; I know I did.

This cave is so cool to go through, seeing all the limestone flowstones, stalactites(form on roof of cave )from Greek meaning "to drip" and stalagmites (form on the floor of the cave)from Greek meaning "to drop"; that took millions of years to form.

Visiting the gift shop was fun because it had a bunch of fun stuff.

Secret Caverns tours feature a fun experience with trained guides and small groups departing the main lodge approximately every 20 minutes. The complete trip of 1/2 mile takes about an hour. The walking tour descends 103 steps to the concrete walkway, and gives an intimate view of ancient calcite formations, prehistoric fossils, and the spectacular 100 foot underground waterfall. The temperature in the cave remains close to fifty degrees all year long so they recommend a light jacket or sweater. Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended. Weather conditions rarely affect the daily life of the cavern, so tours generally continue rain or shine.

I give it a "Thumbs Up as a kid friendly place to visit. So I hope you enjoyed my column and come back often I will be posting a lot more in the very near future.

Until next time this is Skye saying, visit a Museum near you and enjoy everything they have to offer.
