Hi my name is Skye, I am the editor for Museums411 Kids Corner, today I am taking you to Fort William Henry, in Lake George NY.

We had a lot of fun walking thru the Fort, taking photos and talking with the very friendly and informative volunteers and staff. I have some great photos that I took and would like to share with everyone; which I hope will make you all want to come and visit Fort William Henry.

This place is really a cool place to visit, but plan on at least 2 hours or more to really see and take part in the guided tours and demonstrations. My favorite part of the tour was the lighting off of the cannon it was awesome!
There is alot of things to see and do for kids of all ages. I enjoyed watching how they made their own bullets, in the same pot they they just ate out of, Yuck! Another great demonstration was the Blacksmith, he had an assortment of tools he had made by hand.

I learned a lot of information from the guides and volenteers about the importance of the French and Indian War, that I wasn't aware of through my school studies. One important factor that really made a difference toward our independence from Great Britain, was that the French and Indian War literally bankrupted Great Britain. So when we declared our independence, Great Britain couldn't spend the money that was really needed to defeat the Colonists.

I find that history is so much more interesting and fun when I go to the different Museums. I really think that the schools should have more field trips to local Museums, so we all can learn about the importance of our local history.

This is a Fort that you kids should really enjoy; I know I did and so did my Dad. I give this place a thumbs up and would like to thank all the staff that went out of their way to make our visit so much fun, it is one visit that I will always remember. A special thanks To Carol who made this visit truly awesome.

So I hope you enjoyed my column and come back often I will be posting a lot more in the very near future.

Until next time this is Skye saying, visit a Museum near you and enjoy everything it has to offer.
